Our First Christmas

An excerpt about our first Christmas, the lessons I learned along the way, and a preview of what’s to come.

I am using my very first blog post to reflect on our first Christmas together. Among many wonderful memories made this holiday season one of my favorites will be the decorations on our first tree. As Tony and I were taking down the tree this year I was thinking about how our tree started the season with two whole ornaments, and was finishing the season with many. I am so thankful for all our friends and family that saw our pitiful, empty tree and showed their love by giving us an ornament that reflected themselves,  or reflected a memory of us as friends.

We received everything from handmade ornaments from kids to antique ornaments that were my nana’s (pictured above); ornaments from friends to remember and symbolize memories we made together, and “first Christmas together” ornaments. We didn’t buy a single ornament this year, but our tree was filled with them on December 25, 2016.

My hope and prayer is that this can be a reflection on our life. Starting out with so little and watching friends, family, and experiences fill us with their love, wisdom, adventure, and memories. And being able to reflect back at the beauty of what that creates.

I am excited to use this blog to reflect on things I am learning, journal about our life on the road over the next year, and continue through all life’s adventures and mile markers. Its going to be a real adventure.
